S Mahalingam having 43 years of service with TCS
is well known in the IT industry. He retired as
Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director
of Tata Consultancy Services and was involved in
myriad aspects of the company's operation and
growth and also played a key role in helping TCS
become a $ 11.60 billion global company with
over 2,76,000 employees.
He is a
graduate in Commerce and Associate member of
Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. At
present he is a Director in Nani Palkhivala
Arbitration Centre, Tata Reality and
Infrastructure Limited, CMC Limited, CSI
Publications, National Skill Development
Corporation, Kasturi Sons and Sundaram
Finance.
JURY COMMITTEE
D. Sundaram's experience spans corporate finance,
business performance, monitoring operations,
governance, mergers & acquisitions, talent/people
management and strategy.
Sundaram joined Hindustan Unilever Limited as
Management Trainee in June 1975; and served in
various capacities as Corporate Accountant,
Commercial Manager and Treasurer till 1990. He was
seconded to Unilever, London as Commercial Officer
for Africa and Middle East Group between 1990 and
1993. He was the Commercial Manager of TOMCO
integration team in 1993 / 94. He was CFO of Brooke
Bond Lipton from 1994 to 1996 and served in Unilever
London between 1996 to 1999, as Sr. Vice President
(Finance, IT and Strategy) for South Asia and Middle
East. In April 1999 he returned to HUL as Finance &
IT Director.
Sundaram was elevated as Vice Chairman of HUL in
April 2008. In all, Sundaram has more than 34 years
of experience with Hindustan Unilever Limited. He is
a two-time winner of the prestigious “CFO of the
Year for FMCG Sector” award by CNBC TV18 (2006 and
2008).
He is currently the Vice Chairman and MD of TVS
Capital Funds Ltd in partnership with Gopal
Srinivasan (TVS family) in a growth capital Private
Equity Fund (TVS Shriram Growth Fund.) Assets under
Management Rs. 1200 Cr. ($175m). Sundaram brings
deep financial expertise and significant
understanding of consumer related businesses to the
PE operations.
Sundaram is a Post Graduate in Management Studies
(MMS), Chennai, Fellow of the Institute of Cost and
Management Accountants, and has done Harvard
Business School's Advanced Management Programme
(AMP).
Sundaram has served as an independent director on
the Board of State Bank of India, between Jan 2009
to June 2014; of SBI Capital Markets between 2002 to
2014 and has been a member of the board of governors
of Institute of Financial Management and Research,
Chennai, since 2005.
He currently serves as an
independent director on the boards of SBI General
Insurance, GSK Pharma India, Crompton Greaves
Consumer Limited and Trent Hyper Market (JV with
TESCO).

Sunil is a Chartered Accountant with a Masters in
Systems Management and a seasoned IT Security
Professional. He is the CEO of NYKA Advisory
Services LLP, focussed on working with High Growth
Entrepreneurs on their strategic and hyper growth
agenda. He has over 30 years of consulting
experience serving Indian and MNC clients on their
transformation journey in thearea of corporate
strategy, technology transformation, operational
effectiveness, corporate governance, enterprise risk
management and internal audits.
Sunil worked for 25 years with Ernst & Young LLP,
India’s leading professional services firm. He was
the CEO of the Advisory Practice and responsible for
building India’s Largest Advisory Practice (3,000
professionals). He also led the development of the
Global Innovation Strategy for EY Global (a USD 27
Billion enterprise) to identify growth
opportunities. He has also been the leader for
several industries – Technology Sector, Financial
Services, Government and Public Enterprise and has
the experience of working across geographies – USA,
Europe, Africa and South East Asia. He has the
credit of turning around loss making practices,
developing and grooming leaders and implementing
sales interventions and account management programs
to deliver hyper growth. Sunil also served on the
Board of Ernst & Young in India for over 15 years
and on the Advisory Board of Europe Middle East
India and Africa for over 8 years.
He serves as an Independent Director on the Board of
Sapphire Foods India Limited, Ganesh Grains Limited,
Updater Service Pvt Ltd, Davadost Pvt Ltd.
Vigyanlabs Pvt Ltd and has also served on the Board
of Jammu & Kashmir Bank, MORE Retail Limited and
Poonawala Fincorp Ltd. He also serves on the CII
Corporate Governance Committee and contributes on
the agenda of Policy changes and improving corporate
governance. His Corporate clients included the Tata
Group, ICICI Group, NPCI, Bombay Stock Exchange,
Unilever, Aditya Birla Group, American Express, Zee
Group, AllCargo, Bombay Stock Exchange, ICICI Group,
Infosys, iFlex, Wipro, Genpact, Zensar, Central
Board of Direct Taxes, UIDAI - Aadhaar, Govt of
Maharashtra, and also lead some of the most
strategic projects for the Government, World Bank
and ADB related to Policy and Investment Promotion
and other institutions in developing programs to
create to increase employment opportunities at the
grass roots. Widely regarded as a thought leader,
Sunil has been invited to speak at conferences both
in India and overseas and at prestigious forums like
CII, NASSCOM, American Chamber of Commerce, leading
Management institutions and The Institute of
Internal Auditors. He has also served as the Mumbai
chapter president for the Institute of Internal
Auditors and was a member on the Board of Governors
forthe Institute of Internal Auditors, in India He
has been a member of committees constituted by ICAI
(Digital Accounting and Assurance Board), Reserve
Bank of India (RBI), the Securities and Exchange
Board of India (SEBI) and CII. He is on the Advisory
panel for Universal Business School (UBS) and the
Information Security Management Group.

Prof. Shobha Das is the Dean of the IFMR Graduate
School of Business at Krea University. She worked as
a Management Consultant in TCS after her PGDM from
IIM Calcutta, and after her Ph.D. from the Carlson
School of Management, University of Minnesota Twin
Cities, she was a Professor at the Nanyang Business
School, NTU Singapore (1994-2009), and Qatar
University (2009-2019). Prof. Das has taught
undergraduate, masters’, doctoral and executive
courses. She regularly presents her research at
international conferences, and her research papers
have been published in the top management journals.
Her academic area of expertise is
Strategy.
Sachin Tayal
Managing Director
Protiviti, Member Firm for India
JURY COMMITTEE
Sachin Tayal is a Managing Director at Protiviti
Member Firm, in India. He has served in various
leadership and client service roles through his 22
years of wide-ranging experience. Sachin has led
several marquee engagements across diverse industry
verticals and frequently interacts with senior
executive and board members on risk, governance and
performance matters.
As a member of the executive leadership committee
for India, Sachin is responsible for overseeing the
internal audit & financial advisory services as well
as the global delivery centre in the country. Over
the years he has led strategic initiatives for
building the firm’s capabilities in new business
advisory domains with high growth opportunities and
strengthening delivery capabilities for servicing
Indian as well as multinational clients of the
Protiviti network. Sachin also serves on the firm’s
global executive team advisory council that closely
engages with country market and solution leaders on
spectrum of areas.
Sachin sits on the board of the Northern Regional
Council at the American Chamber of Commerce and a
prolific speaker at industry conferences and
business forums, having written several thought
leadership publications. He is passionate about the
Protiviti’s ‘I on Hunger’ global CSR program and
actively contributes towards the cause.
Sumit Dutt Majumder
Former Chairman
Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs
JURY COMMITTEE
Mr Sumit Dutt Majumder is former Chairman of Central
Board of Excise and
Customs. He has 40 years of experience in leadership
positions with the
Government of India, primarily in Customs
Administration, and received the
Presidential Award for meritorious service in 1992.
He has represented India at the
World Customs Organization (WCO), primarily in
customs valuation meetings from
1995 to 2011. He has authored a book on Customs
Valuation- Law and Practice. He
was actively associated with the preparations for
introduction of GST (Goods &
Service Tax) in India. He authored a book on the
subject, titled 'GST in India- its
travails, tribulations and challenges ahead',
published in 2014.
While on deputation, he was Director, Trade
Promotion- Spices Board in Bahrain
covering West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region.
Further, He has worked in the
secretariat for organizing the 1982 Asian Games at
New Delhi and received the
Asiad Jyoti award (equivalent to Padma Shri) in
1984.He also worked in the
secretariat for organizing the Non-Aligned Meet
(NAM) in 1983 at New Delhi.
He has been a UNDP consultant for Nepal Customs and
WCO consultant for China
Customs on WTO Valuation Code. Besides, He trained
customs officers from African
and Asian countries on Customs Valuation..
