Mr Prateek Aggarwal

Prateek Aggarwal is the Chief Financial Officer at HCL Technologies Limited. He is a business-focused finance professional with over 30 years of experience, of which he spent over two decades in the IT industry and more than a decade in the FMCG industry. With a mix of financial and operational experiences, he brings expertise in driving strategic initiatives, financial planning and analysis, deal structuring and contracting, M&A, treasury, investor relations, controllership, tax and legal & compliance to his role.

At the very beginning of his career, he was a member of the team responsible for setting up the new ice-creams business for Hindustan Unilever Limited (from 1993-97). Prateek successfully managed its fast-expanding operations, including factories and distribution cold chains, overcoming complex regulatory hurdles. He was also part of the leadership team that grew the haircare business for HUL, launching 50p & 25p sachets during 2001-03.

Prateek successfully set up the FP&A function and related IT systems for HCLTech and launched Employee HR Services during his first stint at HCLTech from 2005 to 2008. Thereafter, till 2012, he was the CFO of Hexaware Technologies, a well-recognized mid-cap IT services company in India.

Prateek was responsible for setting up the Software Products & Platforms business (P&P) of HCLTech in the last 7+ years, built largely inorganically via IP assets from IBM and other partners, and through two large acquisitions in the software products space. During 2016-2018, he worked as the CFO and COO of the P&P business vertical at HCLTech.

Prateek took over the role of CFO at HCLTech from Oct '18. He has spearheaded mergers and acquisitions pursuits from business synergies, financial and legal perspective, including the largest ever acquisition ($1.8B) in the IT industry in India. He successfully orchestrated many high-profile acquisitions by the company to augment its strategic growth.

In the past few years, Prateek has also laid the foundation for a strong pipeline of future finance leaders through the “Global Engagement Manager” (GEM) Leadership Program to attract high potential and professionally-driven students from top MBA institutes, CA rank holders and top lawyers.

Prateek is a graduate in commerce from SRCC, Delhi and holds an MBA degree from IIM Calcutta. He also completed an M&A certificate course from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Prateek is married and has a daughter and a son. He enjoys reading, participating in adventure sports and traveling with family during vacations.
